Sickhorse’s self-titled debut album is something else. Don’t let first impression band name vibes bug ya—this is the sound of Rockford and Sycamore (IL), Baraboo and Milwaukee (WI), hooking up with Nashville (TN). What a strange, beautiful pop record this is, and one that deserves everyone’s ears. I’ve lent art direction for two of its members, Jason Mossy Vaughn and Derek Luttrell, on various recording releases (Lizard Skynard, Name The Moon, Derek’s previous solo album) during the past decade. This one by the two creative monsters being my favorite release—by a landslide. It’s a phenomenal record! Funny enough, it’s also the one recording that I didn’t have to do much design for due to it getting a digital-only release (November 29, 2019) on all major music apps. Source Photography was provided by Cari Ann Wayman. I did a bit of retouching to the photo for layout purposes, and added era-specific typography to accommodate Mossy’s vision for the cover. A formal physical vinyl and CD release—which this incredible album deserves—is being planned by Corporate Panda Records (Nashville, TN) for possible release in mid-2020. For now, buy and stream it up online, listen, enjoy, and share!
